Exercises

- A Work in Progress -

Opening Exercises

To start our semester in Digital Animation, we are learning how to think more creatively and observe the world around us more carefully. We are also getting to know our classmates so we can work collaboratively, our classroom resources so we can work effectively, and our classroom routines so we can work efficiently.

Exercise 4: Animating a Tennis Ball Bouncing

For this exercise, we animated a tennis ball bouncing, starting by drawing out the actual ball to moving it frame by frame to adding finishing details, like a shadow.

Exercise 1: Making a name button

Exercise 1: Making a name button

For this exercise, we created a button that had our names on it. We focused on making our names legible from a distance and creating an effective design.

Exercise 2: Tennis Ball Brainstorm

Exercise 2: Tennis Ball Brainstorm

In this exercise, we were given prompts, such as "What is a tennis ball made of?" or "What could you do with a tennis ball that has been cut in half?" We would then write our responses on the paper, adding a line for each new answer.

Exercise 3: "Pinky Toe" Discussion

Exercise 3: "Pinky Toe" Discussion

After watching "Pinky Toe," a short animated film by Mathieu Libman, we discussed the elements that made it an effective story, like the sound effects or character development.
